This is my first gulp of air at work today. And now it smells like fish.
Last night I had a dream of two twisters. Clear and close enough I could kiss. And I wasn’t scared of them, I was in awe. I wanted to touch them. They seemed more liquid than air.
The lightning flung itself in white sheets early this morning, but it didn’t surrender. The storm came from the south with the weight of death. She killed over 100 people and she came to us laughing, wrapped around her purple scarf of a sky. The kitty slept between Pat and I and didn’t move. She kept licking and licking and exposed skin. The nestled in between the safety of our bodies that can’t protect her from anything, especially not the weather crashing down the doors.
My tulips survived, many trees didn’t. The yard is full of bloody color.
