Tubers

I saw a man today walking on tuber legs. Round mound calves, bulging and scaled with dry skin. His feet were curled inward from the weight. His socks were ripped from the pressure of skin. I was trying not to stare and felt like a little girl who doesn’t know any better. But I’m only curious how a man like this lives and walks and moves through the world with such weight pushing through his skin.

I’ve been thinking a lot today about artists who’ve destroyed their work. Creators who’ve destroyed their creations. Creations who’ve mastered their creators, become more beautiful, more powerful, more more. I’ve been thinking about why humans abandon the beautiful things they create.

Here’s a blog I found about a few artists who destroyed their work. Scroll down to the September 27, 2005 entry
