Love ends

Would we be bad without other people? People need people. People have eaten people. People have raped people. Alone we are safe from harm yet we are lonely. What a species. If there were one human on earth would she be angry? At sun? At auroras she couldn’t touch? At the feral dog who would never talk? Would she kill when he tried to kill? Would she listen to the night, yell and feel comfort in the distance of her voice traveling like light without end? I am here, says the echo. She makes her bed, bandaging mattress scars – hoping she won’t fall through dreams.

  1. you are just stunning. these poems you write, they sear and settle deep in our crevices, rattling, echoing, not letting go.
